Acer aspire 9500 does not boot

Hello people, I have this Acer Aspire 9500 laptop which is installed with Windows XP operating system. Few days back I was working on the laptop when it suddenly shut itself down. Now the Acer Aspire 9500 does not boot. Whenever the power button is pressed, all the LED's flash but the screen remains black. Is this some hardware problem? Please suggest some solutions to the problem mentioned above.

Re: Acer aspire 9500 does not boot

By looking at the problem it seems that the laptop battery has run out of charge due to which the laptop is not starting. If the battery of the laptop is not having enough charge in it, then it wont be able to provide sufficient power to the laptop. Connect the laptop to the AC adapter and let the battery charge for about an hour. After charging the battery, disconnect the adapter and then try booting the computer using the battery. It will start if the battery has sufficient charge.

I think the laptop is not able to access the system memory and hence it is not starting. Try opening the laptop and remove the RAM chips from their respective slots. Clean the connecting terminals of the RAM chips with a clean cloth. Try cleaning the slot with a clean cloth too. Once the RAM chips and the slots are cleaned, replace the RAM again. See if the computer boots or not. If there are multiple RAM chips present, then try booting the computer with single RAM chip at a time.

Re: Acer aspire 9500 does not boot

As all the LED's of the laptop are flashing, it indicates that the problem is not with the hardware. If the operating system is not present on the computer, the computer will not be able to boot. I think the operating system on your computer is missing due to which the laptop is not booting. If you have the install disk of the operating system which you are using, insert it in the drive and boot the system from it. Installer will load and will give several options for installation. Select the one which suits you and install the operating system on the computer. Once the operating system is installed, you will not face the same problem again.

Re: Acer aspire 9500 does not boot

The battery on the motherboard of the laptop must be out of the charge which is preventing the laptop from booting. Open the laptop and locate the battery on the laptop. Check the voltage of the battery with a Digital multimeter. The voltage of the battery should be between 2.5 volts to 3 volts. If the voltage of the battery is less than 2.5 volts then you will have to replace the battery. Once the battery is replaced, the laptop will boot without any problems.

Re: Acer aspire 9500 does not boot

All the laptops suffer with the problem of residual charge. Residual charge gets stored near the RAM chips which makes the RAM chips inaccessible. The only way to solve the problem is to clear all the residual charge on the laptop. To clear the residual charge, shut down the computer and disconnect it from AC source. Remove the battery of the laptop. Press the power button and keep it pressed for about 30 seconds. Then release the button and keep the laptop as it is for a minute. After a minute, replace the battery and then boot the computer.
