The problem which you are facing with the laptop is due to the operating system failure. The operating system which you are using on the laptop has got corrupt due to which it is not getting loaded on the laptop. If the operating system is corrupt, it will not get loaded and the computer will keep on restarting. If you have the installation disk of Windows Xp then insert it on the drive and boot the system from the CD. Once the installer load, either select repair or fresh copy installation. Repairing the operating system might help you in your case. Once the operating system is reinstalled or repaired, you will not face the same problem again. |

Normally the computer restarts when the it is not able to access the RAM of the system. The files which are needed by the operating system to load are first stored in the RAM and then they are executed. If the system is not able to access the RAM, it will not be able to store any files on the RAM and hence will not be able to boot the operating system. Open the laptop and remove the RAM chips. Clean the connecting terminal of the RAM chips with a dry cloth and then replace them back in the slot. If there are multiple RAM chips, try booting the system using 1 ram chip at a time and see if the system boots. If the RAM chips are faulty then there is no other option than to replace the RAM Chips. |

If the voltage of the battery on the motherboard falls below a certain voltage then the system will not boot. Open the laptop and locate the battery on the motherboard. Remove the battery and then check the voltage across the battery using Digital multimeter. The voltage across the battery should be between 2.5 to 3 volts. If the voltage is below 2.5 volts then the laptop will not boot and you will have to replace the battery. Replacing the battery will solve your problem. |

| Re: Acer 5050 wont boot
All the functions which are carried out of the by the computer are controlled by the motherboard. If the motherboard of the computer itself is faulty then it is bound to create problems while working. Computer restarting while booting is a symptom of faulty motherboard. Get the motherboard checked by some technician and if the motherboard is faulty then get it replaced. Replacing the motherboard will solve the problem of restarting of the computer. |
