An iPhone has been detected but it could not be identified properly

Hi,

I use the iPhone 3G with Windows XP on IBM ThinkPad T61 - Windows XP Service Pack 3 (genuine). I get the error message , " An iPhone has been detected but it could not be identified properly. Please disconnect and reconnect the iPhone. " I've tried everything I can think of, but nothing happened. if anyone has experienced and resolved this issue, or has any suggestions, please help.

You can see this alert message if iTunes detects a problem with the USB connection between the iPhone and computer. Troubleshooting the USB connection. I think your iphone is not properly connected, try the following steps that its not a usb problem :

• Remove all USB devices except keyboard, mouse and iPhone or iPod touch. Remove all USB hubs and establish a direct connection with the computer.
• Connect directly to iPhone or iPod touch to the included USB cable, bypassing the docking station.
• Restart the computer.
• Try again to restore the device to iTunes.
• If possible, test with another USB cable.

Have tried the following things :

- Restart Windows XP.
- Restart iPhone.
- Re-Install iTunes latest version.
- Un-Install iTunes, then Restart computer and Install new iTunes .
