Know the firmware version of the psp?

hello,

I got a new psp yesterday. I got free with an offer of mobile telephony. It is a Japanese version its really less user friendly for me and I therefore have no info on the firmware version ..

Anyone know how to know the firmware version of my psp??

In the menu of the PSP: Settings -> System Settings -> System Information , i use to do in my English version of PSP, i don't have idea about Japanese version, but procedure should be the same. There should be some manual came with it, which can say you the firmware version. Above tip will also do your work.

Its quite easy:

• Press the little "home" button
• Settings - >System Settings
• Press the "X" button to choose System Settings and then select a System Information.
• Finally, press the "X" button one more time and you'll find out what version of the firmware you have on your PSP.

ok i did as you said to do, and i got the firmware version as 2.6, but what is the mac address on that display, what that means? Whats the use of MAC address in PSP?

The MAC Address on the system information display of PSP is the unique hardware id that identifies your PSP uses while doing communication with other Internet devices, basically it's a address of the network interface device.

Think of a mac address kinda like you would an IP for identification. Sometimes a router has the option to exclude all connections apart from certain specific devices. It is those devices' MAC addresses that you will need to enter in order for the router to indentify them. The PSP's MAC address can be found in 'System Settings' and then entering the 'System Information' option.
