| Re: Toshiba Satellite Does not shut down
I think the problem is with Operating system you are which you are using. Windows Xp service pack 3 has lot many problems with compatibility with different devices which are connected to the system. It has many bugs which are not yet fixed by the Microsoft and hence the system keeps on crashing. Remove the current installation of Windows from the computer and then install Windows Xp service Pack 2 on the computer which is more stable than the version of the operating system which you are using. Installing a different operating system will solve the issue. |

Normally the Blue screen of death corresponds to critical error due to which the operating system gets stuck. It can be a hardware failure or a software failure which is creating such problem. Therefore my suggestion would be to check both the hardware as well as software possibility which may be creating the problem. Once the hardware and software possibilities are checked you will be sure what the problem is. Find the cure according to it. |

If you know how to open the laptop then, open the laptop and check if the RAM is properly fixed or not. BSOD while shutting down normally occurs if the system memory is inaccessible. This happens only if the RAM is not properly fixed in the slots or has got damaged. The Ram of your system must not be damaged as your system is working fine hence remove the Ram chips and then wipe the connecting terminals with a clean cloth and then replace them again in the RAM slots. If you have multiple RAM chips then try booting the system with single RAM chips and see if the system shuts down properly. |

Probability of your system getting infected by a virus cannot be ignored. When Virus infects the system files of the operating system it leads to problems like the one you are facing. Scan the system with an updated antivirus and see the number of files which are infected. Repair or quarantine the files which are infected. Do not delete the files which are infected as it may lead to system failure. If you dont have an updated antivirus you can make use of the free online scan facility which is provided by many antivirus solution companies. |
