Try this and tell me if it works. Go to Device Manager and see all the installed devices. Locate the Webcam in the list populated on the Right hand side. Now right click on the Webcam and select uninstall. It will ask you if you are sure. Click yes and then Ok. Now restart the system. Now Windows xp will find the new hardware and will install the drivers automatically.

Re: Asus Eee 701 Webcam problem

You have now installed the windows XP in the Asus Eee 701 by removing the Linux operating system. But now the webcam of this is not working the reason for this is you have installed the wrong driver software in this Asus Eee 701. For installing the drivers for the webcam of this go to the website of ASUS. From there download and install the driver. If the driver is not available on the Website then go to the device manager and right click on the webcam and select the update driver option. Now the compatible driver for the webcam of the Asus Eee 701will be installed automatically. Now restart the system and after that this webcam will work properly.

Go to Explorer and see if it can detect the cam. If not, make sure you have installed all drivers (particularly ACPI) as I have noticed that without this driver. I think you need to try to get the webcam icon off the desktop? You need try to tweakUI, one of the sections should show why it's on the desktop and should allow to remove it.

Hello Friend,

To solve your Webcam problem, You need to make sure that Webcam hardware is recognized as well as properly installed from the "Windows Device Manager". There also chances that right camera hardware divers are not installed on your computer system. If it is happened with your system then you can see yellow mark which indicate the problem. Your webcam device is unrecognized in XP operating system then it can be found under option of other devices.

Re: Asus Eee 701 Webcam problem

According to me this would be case of the service pack if Windows XP. First check that Windows XP installed on your machine is of Service Pack 1 or Service Pack 2. Because, if it is Service Pack 1 then drivers would not be installed and so update to Service Pack 2, which can solve the problem. Also unplug and plug all the USB devices once again. Check this method does work for you or not.
