If you can not send or receive text messages, check the mobile signal in the status bar at the top of the screen. If you do not see any bars, or if the message "No Service", change of location. If you're inside a building, outside or near a window. Make sure you are in an area with coverage. Visit the website of your company to see their coverage areas.

Re: Iphone problem : Cannot send or receive text messages

Text messaging, short text message, are a good way to get from someone a quick answer to a simple question. Maybe you just want to send someone a greeting when a call is not strictly necessary. Then 140 characters are enough to send a message to a recipient with an SMS-enabled phone. To write an SMS on the iPhone:

    • On the Home screen, tap the SMS icon. This opens the command window.
    • Tap the pen icon top right of the window and enter the phone number and name of the recipient. Alternatively, tap the blue cross and select a contact from your contact list.
    • Now enter the text of the short message and then tap Send.

The SMS news are displayed on the iPhone like a conversation, so it is quite easy to continue an interrupted communication. With the finger you can scroll through the posts. If you still want to speak with the receiver, tap the button "call".

Re: Iphone problem : Cannot send or receive text messages

The incoming and outgoing Text messages are collected and stored messages under the name of the sender or recipient. For answers, click once on the name or phone number in the "Text Messages". Then type the text and tap Send. Do you want to delete a text message, tap the appropriate message in the list and select the options "Edit" and "Delete". So that you can send or receive text messages.

If you still can not send or receive text messages:

    • Make sure you first hit the field for entering text at the bottom of the screen (highlighted in red below) to display the keyboard button Send is grayed until you start to enter text.
    • Shut down and restart the iPhone. Hold button On / Standby button until the cursor appears red. Drag your finger across the surface of the slider to turn off the iPhone. To turn on the iPhone, press the button Sleep / Wake until the Apple logo appears.
    • Make sure each phone number in your contact list includes an area code.
    • Make sure Airplane Mode is not activated. On the Home screen, tap Settings, then turn off the air.
    • If you try to send a text message to multiple recipients and you type each number manually instead of using the contacts list, make sure you hit back instead of a space to separate numbers. For more information, see Sending SMS messages requires a valid mobile number to 10 digits.

Re: Iphone problem : Cannot send or receive text messages

The text messages are supported by SMS and MMS. If the Subject field option is enabled in Settings> Messages> MMS> Subject field, you can send messages only after entering text in the body text. Before that, the Send button is grayed out and you can not send the message. If you add text in the Subject field and body text, you automatically send the message via MMS. If you want to send the message via SMS, you can either enter text in the body text only, or disable the Field object.

Also Make sure airplane mode is not enabled. At the start screen, select Settings and turn airplane mode. If that helps enable Airplane Mode, wait 15 seconds and then release. Be sure to include the prefix of each of the phone numbers of your contacts list that is used to send or receive text messages
