Mail application not working in ipod touch.

Hello,
I recently received a cool new ipod touch from my brother. I add my email account using mail application. When I click on "inbox" option to check new mail, it keeps on checking for mail and this process never end. Due to this I unable to open any e-mail. Can any one help me to get rid out of this problem.

I think there is no problem in your mail account. You are getting this problem due to your internet connection. First check whether your internet connection is working or not. You can check it by opening any site from your safari browser. If your internet connection is not working, then you can not open mail application. In this case first make it properly working and then try to access your email account.

If you are not able to check, send and receive mail then try following troubleshooting steps. You have to turn on other SMTP servers. You can do this in following ways.
1.First click on Settings option.
2.now click on Accounts.
3.Now scroll down to "Outgoing Mail Server" and click on "SMTP".
4.Now click on "AT&T SMTP Server" and make it turn on.
5.Now you are able to check, send and receive mail.

I also had the same problem, then I use following steps and now my ipod is working properly.
1.First connect your ipod to itunes.
2.Now take backup of your ipod.
3.Now format your ipod normally.
4.Open itunes application and restore your ipod.
5.Now install new version of Mail application.
6.Now restart your ipod and you will find that your problem is gone.
7.If you still have the same problem, then contact apple store to fix this problem.
