Amazon is launching Kindle for periodicals

I recently heard the news that Amazon.com is going to launch kindle for reading newspapers or periodicals. Is this news is correct, and if it is correct then correct to what extent. Because, this news is giving negative marking for the kindle which available in the market. Other people and including me started to think if Amazon is launching a kindle for reading news paper then there must be something wrong with current version of kindle. Can anybody give me a clear idea about it?

Re: Kindle DX for reading periodicals.

No, the news is not correct, because Amazon.com is not planning to launch but already launched Kindle DX in the market. I just want to make one thing clear that this news is not giving me any wrong idea about the current versions of Kindle available in the market. If any company is launching new version of its products it does not mean that its previous version are bad. The company launches the new version of its product only if the previous version is successful.

Re: Kindle DX is a new version of kindle for reading news paper.

The New York Times reported on Monday Amazon.com is launching large-screen version of its Kindle electronic reader this week modified for displaying newspapers and magazines. Amazon.com has launched an e-reader. That will present much of the editorial column and advertising, publicity or marketing contents of traditional periodicals as appear in the general news paper. This news is confirmed by The Times. Larger screen version of kindle for reading news paper is named as Kindle DX.

Re: Competition for Amazon's Kindle.

Well this news is not giving any negative marking for Amazon’s kindle e book reader. But this news is increasing the worries of Kindles competitors. Rupert Murdoch's News Corp., newspaper and magazine publisher Hearst and California-based start-up Plastic Logic are planning to their own eBook reader. Plastic Logic e-reader is a lightweight gadget. It also has the feature of touch screen. Its size is about the size of a pad of letter paper. It is going to be used on a temporary basis by two Detroit newspapers later this year.

Re: Kindle is specially designed for reading news papers.

Amazon is already offering dozens of newspaper subscriptions for its present Kindle readers which includes the New York Times, Newsweek, The New Yorker and The Wall Street Journal etc. The current version of Kindle is traditional electronic reader which is designed for books but the new device has a screen size of a standard sheet of paper and is more specifically for periodicals. But the path for the Amazon’s kindle is not it has competitor like Sony. Sony has also launched an e-reader which is similar to kindle.
