Also it sustains a good battery life for almost 9 hours. but the issue I am having is with upgrading the operating system. System Configuration of Asus Eee PC 1005ha

It would be great if you could provide the system configuration of your Asus Eee PC laptop which include Memory(RAM), Processor and Hard drive. As the issue can be because of the system's incompatibility to handle Windows 7.

My Asus Eee PC 1005ha laptop consists of Intel Atom N280 processor, 1 gigs DDR2 SO-DIMM RAM, 160 gigs hard drive. is has a display as 10.1" LED Backlight WSVGA Screen (1024x600). Is it enough to install Windows 7 or do I need to alter or modify anything.

Verify if the installation disc of Windows 7 Home edition is working properly or not. Try to install the disc on some other computer to check if it can complete the installation. Or else exchange the disc can see if you can complete the installation of Windows 7 for your Asus laptop.

Check if your laptop meets the basic system requirements listed for Windows 7 by Microsoft:
    • Memory: 2GB (64-bit) / 1GB (32-bit)
    • Processor: 1GHz or faster 64-bit (x64) processor/ 32-bit (x86)
    • Graphic: DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM 1.0 or higher driver
    • Hard Drive Space: 20GB (64-bit) / 16GB available free space on hard drive.

    Custom Install Windows 7

My suggestion is that you go for a custom installation on Windows 7 rather than going for an upgrade. Even I had the same problem when I was trying to upgrade Windows XP Service Pack 2 to Windows 7 Home Premium. I then did a custom install of Windows at helped to install Windows 7 on my Acer laptop.
