| Issues with Acer TravelMate5520
Hello,I bought Acer TravelMate5520 laptop. It was working fine but from few days i am facing the following issue's. 1. Sometimes the Keyboard and mouse get stuck on the logon screen due to which i cannot enter the password and logon to windows. 2.After login into windows no wireless network or lan is detected and when i try to check the NIC using Ping 127.0.0.1 it gives an error message of Unable to initialize windows sockets interface, error code 0. 3.Sometimes the Keyboard does not function at all and device manager shows driver files corrupted.I tried to get uninstall the drivers and reinstall but it did not work. If there is any solutions to the above problem please let me know. Last edited by Otilio : 11-12-2009 at 04:09 PM. |

I own the same Acer series and was facing the same problem with my keyboard. This what i did to solve the problem. I used Acer Windows-based Format Utility for USB drives to format the pendrive to boot sector and treat it as a startup boot disk. Then I called up the Acer Tech support to guide me through the procedure of downloading the DOS format boot up system file to view the files in NTFS format. After downloading this file the Admin gave me some commands with the help of which the Login password was deleted. Now i was able to login into my system without the password.I know this is a temporary solution but it helped me.You can get the disk utility software from the Acer Support website. |

Your keyboard issue can be solved by executing following steps. If you are not able to enter the commands due to keyboard malfunction then use your mouse to copy paste the commands. Click on Start menu and click “Run”-- Type "regedit" and press enter.--A new window will open--Click on “Edit”and select “Find.” from the drop down menu--Now type “kbdclass” and press enter.--The registry editor will search for any key that has “kbdclass” in it--Look for “UpperFilters” and a data of ” something_random_here kbdclass” .--Once you have found the key double click and edit the text so that it includes only "kbdclass".(ie delete something_random_here)and then Press OK.--Now Continue searching the keys and edit wherever necessary.--Now Close the registry editor.--Go to the device manager--Look for your keyboard in the list (It would be showing code 39 error).--Now right click on it and click on uninstall.--Then restart the computer. Your keyboard should work on rebooting or else your keyboard is physically damaged or your drivers are corrupt.

Hi,the error you are getting while pinging the loopback address of NIC is a winsock error. It occurs due to corrupt winsock and winsock2 executable files.1st step would be to delete the corrupted registry key of winsock and winsock2 registry key from the windows registry and then reboot the system. After rebooting the system creates new entries for winsock and winsock2.After the new registry entries are created your wireless network would be detected. If you are not able to access any website after wireless network detection then try reinstalling TCP/IP.Then you will be able to access any site without any problems. |
