    Hi,

I recently purchased a second-hand shuffle that was when new, but am unable to get to work on my computer. When I connect, iTunes recognizes it and it say's, the ipod could not be restored . I click the button to restore, it goes through as it is working but nothing happens. What may be the issue ???

Re: Error 1418 : the ipod could not be restored

When you do a "Restore" the IPod is cleaned as if you had formatted it. As the recovery failed you may try to format the IPod as if it is an external HD, if you are using Windows you need to format the IPod with the FAT 32 file System. To recover your songs you need to Synchronize the IPod with the computer that has that IPod registered. In case you don't have your music on a computer it may be dificult to recover your music, how ever it may be possible. Set your IPod has a Hard Disk and use some Data recovery program like R-Studio.

    2. Restart your computer and then attempt to restore your iPod.
    3. Disable or Enable Disk Use on your iPod and then attempt to restore.
    4. Try connecting your iPod to a different USB port and then attempt to restore.
