Problem starting webcam

Hello everyone,

I have a Sony Vaio VGN-FZ11Z laptop , recently, when I want to use the webcam the following message appears:

"An Attempt to initialize the camera failed. Please check if another software is using the camera"

It happens when i start MSN, but no other application is running.

My question is: how do i know what software that uses the webcam, is there any software or programs that can help me??

First with CTRL-Alt_Del view the running processes. And end unnecessary programs running. And also check your startup, uncheck the unnecessary programs at startup. I'm considering that you are not using external webcam , you are using the webcam that came with you laptop , you can check for your webcam update on official site support.

I also had the same kind pof issue, " Please check if another software is using the camera " this message pops up when i try to activate the camera after installing its updating its driver i fixed the problem. you can do this updation in device manager by right clicking on the webcam device.

I think your camera driver is corrupted, I would try re-installing drivers for it. I assume you have been to the VAIO update site to check for updates ? you have the model number then find it on sony website and it should have a support section where you can check for any drivers and things. try out this link: http://esupport.sony.com/. You can also try unplugging it and completely uninstalling all software that you've installed for it. Then close every program so nothing else is running and reinstall it.
