Specification and feature wise go with the Sony. It comes with IntelR Core 2 Duo Processor T9600 (2.80GHz) and Dell Studio XPS 16 gives IntelR Core 2 Duo T9550 (6MB cache/2.66GHz/1066Mhz FSB).

The sony will probably be a better machine, You have a good point about choosing a P series processor for the DELL.The bad thing about the Sony is the warranty which is shorter. Specwise, the sony seems to be the slightly better system except for the DDR3 memory.

Chocolate Brown color and ATI Mobility Radeon HD4650 graphics card with 512MB vRAM-good for games and movies.
