How to do Hard reset on HTC Touch HD

Hi,,,

I need some urgent help from you all guys. i am having a HTC Touch HD smartphone that is almost 10 months old. From last few days it is creating some problem when i receive any call. It just get freeze up. So i want to perform a hard reset. Could you guys please let me know how to do a hard reset on HTC Touch HD ? I appreciate all your help.

Remember that a hard reset should only be performed if a normal reset does not solve a system problem. It will delete all your save docs, message and settings from the device. Anyways, here is how to do a hard reset on HTC Touch HD:-

• With the device turned off, press and hold the VOLUME UP and VOLUME DOWN buttons, then briefly press the POWER button.
  
  
• Continue pressing the VOLUME UP and VOLUME DOWN buttons until you see this message on the screen:Your device will be set back to factory default settings. Please ensure any additional installed programs and/or user data have been backed up before a hard reset is performed.
  
  
• Release the VOLUME UP and VOLUME DOWN buttons, press the VOLUME UP button to perform the hard reset, or press any other button to cancel the reset.

I recommend you to do soft reset first, if it won't work than perform a hard reset. To do a soft reset just go through these steps:-

Open stylus and remove back cover.
You can see the RESET button located between the SIM card and storage card slots.
Press it using stylus for 5 seconds.

You can perform a reset to shut down all programs and restart your device. Before performing Hard reset I suggest that you back up all your settings or you can probably use the warranty through an authorized reseller.

hi, I was installing a software on my touch hd and after copying the cab file and running it from the device it was stuck and there was no progress so I tried to restart my phone with the power button but not possible so I opened the back cover and press the reset button and the phone was rest but unfortunately after showing the htc logo nothing happened and the phone does not start up. tried the hard reset but nothing also happened what should I do??? is my phone not useful anymore!!!!
