It may not be able to download purchased music if you have installed the Web Accelerator software. To disable EarthLink Accelerator:
1. Click the EarthLink Accelerator icon in the system tray.
2. On the shortcut menu, select Options.
3. Click the Advanced tab.
4. Uncheck the option to start automatically on startup.
5. Restart your computer.
6. Open iTunes.
7. Click iTunes Store in the Source list.
Simply click the icon for the ipod and then the music icon and then the icon for the ipod. This should trigger the error. Repeat, repeat, repeat. This contact with the server. If you do not see the error message, they have finally gotten through.
Got the wrong direction for a recovery:
Slide the hold button then click off. Then, quickly hold the "menu" and "center" buttons together until it is reset. You must do this fairly quickly.
This is the way to reset an iPod. You must have all the content, such as restarting the Mac. If this is a no go, you should do a restore in iTunes.
