Lens recommendation for Canon SLR

Hi,
I had recently purchased Canon SLR camera. I have to click some photos for a magazine. So here I want to buy a lens for the camera. There is no lens came with the camera. Why this so. And which is the best lens recommendation for the digital camera. I had seen a wide variety of lens. Ia am confused here which one to use. My work is capture photographs for a IT magazine. According to those who are already using it which lens is preferrable for taking clear short range photos. Thanks in advance.

Lens choice completely depends on your usage and requirement. There are multiple factors that allows you to take a proper decision for a lens choice. I recommend to get a all around lens. It is really not good to buy a specific lens for each different work. I consider lens on the basis of cost, need, zooming, f-stop and weight.
