    HP Pavilion dv4000 processor change

    Hello,

I have a HP Pavilion dv4000 for some years now and it starts getting old. I replace the processor (a Pentium M 740@1.73 Ghz 533 FSB Socket 479) by 760 @ 2Ghz Ghz 780@2.26 see if I find it too expensive. Does this sound possible? will i get any difference in performance ?

    Thanks

There wont be any problem in upgrading the Cpu of HP Pavilion dv4000. go to Hp site and Search through the service manual for the HP Pavilion dv4000, it should list the steps to access the cpu. But i would not advice you to upgrade the processor as you will only get a minor speed improvement.

Waste of time and money in my opinion unnecessary. The performance difference is only minimal processors ranges as close, I'll rather spend my money on Core 2 Duo / Quad which does boost the performance but it will then involves the purchase of a PC. And the purchase is justified only in relation to your needs. Often a facility of a well optimized windows may be largely the case to take a little while.

I think for best possible solution is to increase the amount of ram, change the hard disk to another turn or faster and larger capacity and therefore higher density for the same surface, optimizing the OS installation and software in the background. This all will b more cheaper then buying a new processor.
