The unit is comprised of a subwoofer and two magnetically shielded satellite speakers. The system features S/PDIF input for PCM digital audio playback for games and stereo, digital control for master, This enables the separated speakers to be placed for best surround sound performance. surround, bass and treble levels with LED display and color-coded connectors for ease of installation. This combination provides surround sound on a desktop by utilizing side firing speakers. This speaker system is compatible with all stereo sound cards.

There are two ways of connecting the ADA890 to the PC, you can do it either through the analog connector or the S/PDIF (Sony/Philips Digital Interconnect Format) connector. And I really didn't expect anything to even match, let alone eclipse, the ProMedias for a long while. Using the analog connector is simple as you need to connect both front and rear analog outputs from your sound card to the connectors behind the subwoofer.

Altec Lansing put as much effort into the controls and setup as they did with the system architecture. If you're using the Creative Sound Blaster Live! Value, you would probably choose this option since it is only capable of analog outputs. Of course, you may argue that there's a Digital Out connector on the card as well, but that's actually meant for their proprietary Digital DIN converter and it's not an S/PDIF output. The system is operated with either the included remote or the controls on the right front satellite.
