Re: Using Intel Anti-Theft Technology

Intel centrino 2 with vPro notebooks comes with intel AT (Anti-theft) Technology.Intel Anti Theft offers you the option of activating hardware-based client-side intelligence to secure the PC and/or data if a notebook is lost or stolen. Because the technology is built into PC hardware, it provides local, tamper-resistant defense that works even if the OS is re-imaged, a new hard-drive is installed, or the notebook is not connected to the network.check here for more

This you can get with Acer .The agent Computrace Software Agent that optimizes the solutions from Absolute Software is integrated with the BIOS of some computers from Acer manufacture. The solution can also be installed by users. Integrated into the bios of the computer, the Computrace agent stealth can resist the reinstallation of the operating system and reformatting, replacement or change of the hard disk image.

Suffice it to our customers to activate when they subscribe for periods between one and four years. The agent incorporated in the bios keep regular contact with the control center of Absolute, which transmits location information and asset management gateway service center Absolute.

If a computer equipped with Computrace is stolen, Computrace sends a silent signal to Absolute Control Center. This signal allows the Recovery Team Absolute seeking by a proven computer using procedures such as capture key registry analysis, parsing, geolocation, and other investigative techniques to determine who is in possession of the computer and use what he or she makes. Absolute then contacts the local authorities to recover the computer.

The solution Alarm Intel Anti-Theft Technology allows IT administrators to activate a timer that freezes the computer in case it would connect to the control center of Absolute Software for a defined period.

Similarly, if the administrators are realizing that a computer fails, they can lock the equipment remotely by logging into the support center Absolute Customer Center. When managers know that the computer is protected and controlled, they can reset it using a key provided by Absolute reactivation.
