Nokia Software Updater - Error 1720

Hey guys,

I have a nokia 6630 and I wanted to update its firmware, but i cant get the nokia software updater to install it always gives me, " error 1720: There is a problem with this Windows installer package. A script required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor . Custom action Kill_process script error -2147221020,: Line 5 , Column 1." Anyone got any ideas what could be wring i've followed all the nokia instructions on their website.

I had the same problem with Nokia Software Updater, I was getting internal module error. Check that the folder should be created when you select Run not when you select Save. This will help you to located the files in proper place.

I had the same error 1720 while trying to run software updater - turned out to be corrupt repository:

To fix a corrupted WMI repository, you have to reinstall WMI. Follow these steps:

1. For Windows XP Service Pack 2
2. Click Start, Run and type the following command:
3. rundll32 wbemupgd, UpgradeRepository
4. This command is used to detect and repair a corrupted WMI repository. The results are stored in the setup.log% (windir% \ system32 \ wbem \ logs \ Setup.log) file.

This is the best solution I think, which I found on nokia's website.

1. Download and install 7-Zip.

2. Use 7-Zip to extract the contents of NokiaSoftwareUpdaterSetup_en.exe into a folder.

3. Go into Packages, then NokiaSoftwareUpdater, then Setup

4. Launch NokiaSoftwareUpdater.msi (double-click it).
