Dell 5150 power jack issue

Hi friends,

My brother is having Dell 5150 laptop whenever he try to give power to his laptop it won't charge he is facing this issue from few days before only and when i try to check it out i came to know that on the plug end the 8 volts is from the center pin to center barrel and 20 volts from center barrel to outer sleeve which I assumed was just an RF shield. Can anyone help us out ?

According to me if you are using another power supply connector for dell laptops because the communication between the power supply and the laptop will be reduce charging current, when you try to operate with 65W instead of 90W power supplies, will refuse to charge if operated from a non Dell supply. In this case i would suggest you to use power supply connector of dell only.

I had try to use another power supply connector too but still facing same issue can anyone tell me what would be the exact issue and fix it very fast since i need to take my laptop for meeting and without my laptop i cannot show any presentations to my clients.
