Dell dimension 8400 power shut off

Hi,

My friend i having Dell Dimension 8400 laptop with him and from few days whenever he try to Turn off his laptop it's takes very long time as compared to others and sometimes laptop won't shut down only he has to do t directly and next time when he starts his laptop he gets an message your windows was not shut down properly. he has come to me for help, can anyone suggest any ideas ?

According to me there would be some thermal issue because of which it takes a very long time or the fan in the power supply does not spin all the time. If the fan is not spinning at all, i would suggest you to have a replacement of power supply because this would be the most common reason why your laptop takes a very long time to shut it down.

I had a check for the same and my power supply fan is workign properly, i am facing this issue when i had install Photoshop and antivirus on my laptop but i don't think so that this would cause some issue.

Yes why not it might happen that your application takes a very long time to shut it down that's why you are Windows takes a very long time as compared to early to make it sure this is the only cause i would recommend you to uninstall all the application after which you where facing this issue and after which if your laptop is shutting down properly then your application where forcing your laptop to shut down very slowly.
