If you want a stylish flip phone that’s a music player, then the SAMSUNG t339 is music to your ears. The Samsung SGH-t339 is well connected, with tri-band GSM (850/1800/1900MHz) and WiFi with UMA support. UMA is the technology that T-Mobile's HotSpot Home service is based upon, and it allows compatible cell phones to seamlessly transfer calls between cellular networks and WiFi networks. The SGH-t339 cell phone also supports T-Mobile's myFaves service, in addition to having a built-in instant messaging client that supports AIM, ICQ, Yahoo! Messenger, and Windows Live. The T339's 1-inch external display is a bit small, but it supports 65,000 colors (96x96-pixel resolution). Besides the date, time, battery life, and signal strength, it shows photo caller ID and works as a viewfinder for the camera lens, which is located just above. You can only change the contrast, and the backlighting time is much too short. The internal display measures 2 inches and supports 262,000 colors (176x220-pixel resolution). Like on the T229, the screen is rather washed out, particularly for graphics and photos. On the other hand, the T339's menus look a bit better than on its sibling. You can change the display's backlighting, time, and the dialing font size and color. But that’s not the only reason this phone sounds so good. It also has Bluetooth Wireless Technology, a 1.3 megapixel camera, a speakerphone and Wi-Fi connectivity.
The T339 clamshell features built-in options such as a 1.3-megapixel camera with 4x zoom and video capture, MP3 player, Bluetooth technology, access to instant messaging with integrated support for AOL Instant Messenger (AIM), ICQ, Windows Live Messenger and Yahoo! Messenger, external memory card slot and speaker independent voice recognition. Editing options include a night mode, brightness and white balance settings, six color effects, exposure metering, a 4x zoom, three shutter sounds (there's no silent option), multishot and mosaic shot modes, a self-timer, and 28 fun frames. While that's an impressive array of options, photo quality was mediocre.
