| Laptop won't detect sata
As per my knowledge if you are trying to install Windows XP on your laptop and if you are having ASUS motherboard then you need to first load the it' RAID driver by pressing F6 Key during installation and at the same time make sure your RAID is being disabled in BIOS. The SATA ports are active at boot so you just plug the drive in and away you go. |

As per my knowledge only Intel chipset will only detect SATA drives without sata drivers being loaded. Normally Via or SIS chipset also has SATA connection but for that you need to load sata drivers before Windows setup would detect the drive and install windows on it. |
