yes, you can reuse the tape for recording...
but the important thing is that tape gives it's optimum quality when using first time,in fact compared to the types which used for recording the analog signals are worst in this case..you will definitely get a better image quality than the previous one..but picture can have some errors and sort of discontinuities

re: Minidv Re-record

if you wish to rerecord a tape, and planing to do same in future better use aTape Eraser, that erases VHS and DV tapes using a magnetic material. so it
give you a better performance since people tend to record with out erasing the previous videos, if there's a glitch sometimes you may get some residues of the previously-recorded video on top of your newly-recorded video.

Degausser is better for your need make sure that you are at least way from mechanical wrist watches..you will get nice performance if you with Degausser, but make sure that don't re-use them more than 5 or 6 times.because it has some limits

If you tape is not physically defected,it can withstand for years.Sony says a DV tape should be able to be rerecorded 3000 times without any problem.
tape stores as magnetic signal while recording, and you just rewrite the signal when you re-record.but i personally suggest you to use it maximum 6 or 7 times if you concentrate the quality of the videos
