Zoom Wide Angle High Performance
With a zoom range of approximately 27-88 mm (equivalent 24x36), the EF-S 17-55 f/2.8 IS USM standard zoom is a powerful guarantees outstanding image quality. Its wide-angle lens captures more of the scene and add space and perspective in the framing.

Opening sets
The large aperture of f / 2.8 ensures excellent results in low light. This opening remains constant throughout the zoom range, which allows you to zoom from 27 to 88 mm (equivalent 24x36), without decreasing the shutter speed.

Background blur aesthetic
An almost circular opening provides a background blur when aesthetic photography with a large aperture, which is ideal for isolating the main subject of the background.

The EF-S 17-55 f/2.8 IS USM incorporates Canon's Image Stabilizer (IS). Ideal for taking pictures of hands, the image stabilizer allows a gain of three shutter speeds, and thus reduces the risk of occurrence of perceptible blur. The stabilizer facilitates shooting in low light conditions, when the subject to rapid movements and when you photograph from a moving vehicle.


The annular Ultrasonic motor (USM) works on the principle of ultrasonic frequency vibration which results in an extremely fast operation almost silent. The AF engine torque stops the lens focus without inertia or hesitation. The user can move from a development manual to autofocus quickly and even touch at all times by the autofocus without having to first disengage the auto mode.

Super Spectra treatment and form optimized lenses eliminate the risks of flare and ghosting, which are likely to occur with digital boxes because of the potential removal of reflections by the sensor. This treatment also allows for a natural color balance and increase contrast for vivid images and true to reality.
