Kodak Easyshare Z1085 IS is an Optical image stabilization 10 megapixel point-and-shoot compact digital camera that features a 5x optical zoom, face detection, an ISO range up to 3200, and HD picture capture. According to Kodak the camera incorporates a professional quality Schneider-Kreuznach Variogon lens which delivers high quality sharpness and remarkable precision. More pixels mean you can crop and enlarge, and still have great image quality images. With the ability to record 720p movies, the Z1085 sounds like it may be the perfect companion to a new high-definition panel TV. However, keep in mind it is still just a compact digital camera with a small sensor. The Z1085 IS looks like a shrunken DSLR, a fitting look for a camera targeting more-advanced users. It feels sturdy in the hand and has an ergonomic hand grip on the left front side, with a rubbery finger inset. On top are the self-timer, flash, and power buttons with a scroll wheel on the right. On the back side, the 2.5-inch LCD is lined with a smattering of controls: a zoom panel; Delete, Info, Menu, Review, and Share buttons; and a four-way navigational pad.
With a 10 megapixel sensor, 5x zoom, and optical image stabilization, the Z1085 sports the basic physical tech that serious shooters are seeking. Scene content is analyzed for luminance, focal distance, subject matter orientation, and color to determine the correct exposure and capture the natural details, accurate flesh tones, and rich colors you see in your composition. Scene light source is detected and adjustments are made to capture bright whites and true, vivid colors under difficult lighting conditions, fluorescent, tungsten, or daylight. However, the camera has an extremely small buffer, so if you take several shots in quick succession you'll find everything slows down dramatically while it processes the incoming data.
