The Panasonic Lumix DMC-LZ5 is a compact digital camera with a 6 megapixel sensor and 6x optical zoom lens, equivalent to 37-222mm on a 35mm camera. With a list price of $279.95, the LZ5 offers Panasonic's class-leading optical image stabilization in a small (less than 4 inches wide, 186 grams), simple package at an affordable price.
The DMC-LZ5 looks a lot like its predecessors, the DMC-LZ1 and LZ2. The camera is midsize -- too big for your small pockets, but it'll still go into a your jacket with ease. The body is made of a nice mix of metal and plastic, and it feels very solid in the hand. The controls are well-placed, and "button clutter" is kept to a minimum.
The Panasonic Lumix DMC-LZ5's dimensions are 100 (W) × 62 (H) × 45 mm (D) mm, and it weighs 186g without the battery and storage card fitted. The camera is powered by 2 AA size batteries Pack AA (Panasonic Oxyride Battery supplied), which has an approximate CIPA battery life of 235 shots. There is a plastic tripod mount in the left of the bottom of the camera.
