Office communicator 2007 has replaced Windows Messenger after being released officially back in 2007. Microsoft recognizes that there is a growing demand from smartphone users for access to a variety Web applications and productivity applications. There is some indication that Microsoft will eventually offer a mobile version of Office for the iPhone, a move that has been rumored for almost as long as Appleā€™s smartphone has been on the market. But as per now, Microsoft's WebMessenger Mobile is the best option available for communication on iPhone.

If you need an iPhone or Blackberry client WebMessenger might be worth a look. With MS’s recent moves to make their products a little more platform independent, hopefully they’ll port Communicator Mobile to the iPhone at some point. Whether Apple and the networks will want them to enable all the VoIP telephoney features I don’t know, but just contacts, presence and IM would be useful.

Try iDialog from Modality Systems. Needs a CWA server, but works well.
