Gateway M6834 laptop powers off suddenly

I am right now working on my Gateway M-6834 Notebook. It recently started having working issues. As soon as I turn it on, the internal fan starts rotating but the system doesn't boots. I can see the power indicator LED ON. After a small interval of time it powers off itself. Can you help me with this problem?

There can be several things associated to your problem:

1. Faulty battery
Solution: Either try using some different battery or try to remove your battery and start your laptop using the AC adapter directly.

2. Faulty AC adapter
Solution: Try using some other power adapter. If your adapter is having some kind of damage (like some cuts or burnt any where) then it is advised to change your adapter.

3. Faulty connector inside laptop
Solution: For this you definitely have to call your system engineer or take your laptop to some hardware shop to get it repaired.

Most of the time a laptop faces overheating problem and it is possible to fix this using correct measures. There are two possibilities: either cooling module (the heat sink and the fan) are not working properly or they having dust which blocks them to cool the laptop. First check if the cooling fan spins properly. Usually it makes some noise. Then check if the heatsink is clogged. You may clean the heat sink with compressed air. If nothing of this then clean your fans.

Most Gateway laptops have two things in common. Quiet often the power adapter and batteries die a sudden death. The easiest way to check is try some other power adapter or some different battery. My friend was having a Gateway laptop where the adapter died within 6 months of purchase.
