    LG shine cannot access media net, error : connection failed

    Hi,

    Every time I try to get on the internet, but it will not let me, it just keeps saying connection failed. I have an LG Shine on unlimited data / internet plan, but every time I try to connect it says connection failed. But what is surprising about all this, I can still make calls and send regular text messages.

    Delete the old account and create the new one and activate it. It is possible MEdia Net may not be correctly provisioned or there could be an outage in your area. If they do not work, then call customer care for further assistance.

    Try the follow steps, mentioned in AT&T’s tutorial :

    • Access MEdia Net

    • From the standby screen, select Menu.

    • Scroll to and select MEdia Net.

    • Select MEdia Net Home.

    • The "MEdia Net" homepage will display.

    • Exit Media

    The following settings allowed my unlocked LG Shine (KE970) work with Cingular Media Net services including WAP, MMS, Media Net Homepage *, and voicemail. Hope it works for you.

    Data Connections
    (These settings go under Settings>Connectivity>Network>Network Profile>Data Connections)
    Profile Name: MEdia Net
    Bearer: GPRS
    APN: wap.cingular
    User ID: wap@cingulargprs.com
    Password: CINGULAR1
    Primary Server: 000.000.000.000
    Secondary Server: 000.000.000.000

    Browser Settings*
    (These settings go under Browser>Settings>Network Profile)
    Network Profile: MEdia Net
    Homepage: http://device.home
    Proxy: On
    IP Address: 066.209.011.032
    Port: 8080
    Access Point: MEdia Net

    Voicemail Settings**
    (This setting goes under Messaging>Settings>Voicemail Number)
    Voicemail Number: +18139569973

    MMS Settings
    (These settings goes under Messaging>Settings>Multimedia Message>Network Profile)
    MMS Profile Name: MMS
    MMSC: http://mmsc.cingular.com
    Internet Mode: WAP
    Proxy IP: 066.209.011.061
    Proxy Port: 9201
    Connection: MEdia Net

    *Please Note: MEdia Net detects that your phone is unlocked and therefore does not allow you to make purchases for download.
    **This is only for phones in U.S. Area Code 813 (Tampa, FL). You need to contact your provider for your specific Voicemail Number.
