Acer pulled the covers off their new line-up of notebooks, netbooks, nettops and AIOs in London yesterday. The new Acer Aspire One 751 is a 11.6-inch NetBook powered by the new Intel Atom Z520 processor and based on the Mobile Intel® US15W Express chipset, where the trackpad is larger while the buttons seem less stiff compared to its predecessors and competitors. The 11.6" display features a resolution of 1,366 x 768, and has great image quality to booth.
The Aspire One 751 has an Intel Atom processor, 160GB hard drive, full keyboard and multitrack trackpad, and a multi-in-one card reader. According to Acer it boasts battery life of up to nine hours, although this requires the purchase of an add-on six-cell battery. Without the extra batter claimed batter life is only five hours - still respectable. As far as I can tell, this oddball number comes as a result of a 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio, effectively lopping off a horizontal stripe from an otherwise 12.1-inch screen.
There seems to be a real push toward 16:9 for both laptops and LCD monitors, so why not netbooks too? It'll be good for movies, assuming it can handle the video processing.Connectivity options include Wi-Fi and 3G, while running on an Intel Atom Z530 1.6GHz with a 6-cell battery, Dolby Pro Logic sound, multi-card reader, and WXGA backlit LED display.
It will come with the Poulsbo chipset which is optimised for low-powered devices. It also came with GMA500 integrated graphics, more powerful than the GMA950 chipset that is usually found on most netbooks.
