Memory Stick 4gb problem

Hi,

I got a new 4gb sony memory stick and when I plug it into the Sony Ericsson W810i and it starts to blink a white screen.

With the original 512mb memory stick is working fine.

I think the problem is with the new ms.

I let it blinking for a while and then the phone turned off, but still is not working.

Can I do anything to fix this?

i believe that the w810i can only support upto 2gb

Try formatting your MS on your PC using "FAT". You might have to manually specify your cluster size, if you do not get your 4GB after formatting.

The w810 officially supports 4Gb. Format the card on a PC as stated by Una. When done, make sure you format it again on the phone as it creates a filing structure for you.

Re: Memory Stick 4gb problem

Hmmm, I've got loads of problems with the 4GB card I bought. The model number is MSX-M4GN.

The phone recognises the 4GB-ish of space but refuses to write anyting to it.

I've tried to format the MS, using the phone software (which I couldn't find - and neither could 2 people from Orange!). But after I do that from a Windows PC it appears to be unformatted, and hence I am unable to transfer any data to it.

So I pull out the USB cable and the W810i's screen goes white for a while before the phone reappears.

Putting the USB cable back in results in the card "magically" being formatted FAT reporting 3.86GB of available space.

However, the phone is unable to write anything to the card!

What * am * I doing wrong?

After formatting the 4GB card has two files listed MEMSTICK.IND & MSTK_PRO.IND. The 512MB card * also * has the following files: CDAInfo.txt & MemStickInfo.txt along with some folders. Is this part of the problem?

!! HELP!!

Re: Memory Stick 4gb problem

To format the card on the phone go into file manager, then HIGHLIGHT pictures. Press MORE then FORMAT MS. This will format the card.
