eRecovery does not work in NTFS as said by all Acer users. As long as you didn't wipe the hidden partition, eRecovery should work. In order to access it, you have to change the boot order in the bios and boot from the recovery dvd you made.
Acer laptops use a custom Master Boot Record (MBR) that allows you to use the Alt-F10 to initialize the recovery procedure. Also Alt-F10 uses the hidden PQSERVICE partition found on the hard drive.
When you zeroed the disk you not only erased the custom MBR which is needed for Alt-F10, but you also erased the recovery partition (PQSERVICE)
Now when you use the recovery CD's you are only restoring Windows, and not the custom MBR and PQSERVICE
eRecovery requires a password, try accessing it through the Start =>All Programs menu or one of the "QuickLaunch" buttons towards the display will probably launch it. In any event, the default password is something like "000000" before you set it.
