iPhone OS 3.0 processed faster JavaScript

From early JavaScript benchmarks of the first beta of iPhone OS 3.0 show that Mobile Safari in the new iPhone OS for the iPhone and iPod Touch up to three times faster with the processing of JavaScript over its predecessor.

Faster processing of JavaScript with particular benefits for web applications, but also daily visits to normal websites would be benefit. Presumably includes Mobile Safari in OS 3.0 the much improved JavaScript engine Nitro that Apple recently in the public beta of Safari 4 introduced.

In the first test carried out by developer Wayne Pan, the new version of Mobile Safari subject to the SunSpider JavaScript benchmark, developed by the WebKit team which include the engine of Safari, Mobile Safari and Google Chrome is. IPhone OS 2.2 Where the test in 132.5 seconds managed to finish doing OS 3.0 with 44.1 seconds significantly better.

Re: iPhone OS 3.0 processed faster JavaScript

iPhone developer Craig Hockenberry claimed a series of five tests in which the JavaScript engine is tested on different aspects. Each test is performed 10,000 times by an average is calculated. The following graph from Ars Technica, the result can be seen. According to Hockenberry OS 3.0 is three to ten times faster than OS 2.2.

Also half, expanded version of the SunSpider benchmark shows similar results. The average increase in speed compared to OS 3.0 OS 2.2 is 300 percent (3 times), but some individual tests are six, eight, or eleven times faster. The bitwise 'and' function shows even more than sixteen times faster than the current version of Mobile Safari.

Both gentlemen iPhone OS 3.0 is still stability and speed problems, but this is a beta version of the software. For the final release - which probably in June or July will take place - Apple will have solved these problems probably.

Last week was already known that Apple currently is doing its best to proceed as quickly as possible a new beta of iPhone OS 3.0 to developers Friday to give. The focus here mainly on full support for push notifications will be placed.
