Samsung launches the slim-line Lucido Phone

Samsung has launched a stylish mid-range mobile, the latest addition to its line of candy bar feature candybar Lucido with a 5-megapixel camera and GPS . Lucido translates from Italian to ‘sleek’, which tells you a lot about what you need to know about the handset’s design intentions.According to Samsung, the Lucido offers "uncompromising design – with distinctive contours, clean lines and vibrant colour" and is set to redefine the traditional bar handset

The candybar design features a 5MP camera with LED flash that comes with face detection, smile shot and anti-blur technology, so while it's not in the 8MP camera league of the Tocco Ultra, it's still going to take more than decent snaps if it builds on Samsung's burgeoning camera reputation. The microSDHC slot can deal with up to 8GB capacity cards, offering storage for a few thousand full quality photos from the onboard camera.

When it comes to the specifications list and capabilities of the fresh Samsung Lucido S7220, we can count there quad-band GSM (850/900/1800/1900), 900/1200 UMTS, 7.2 Mbps HSDPA connectivity, as well as Bluetooth 2.1 with EDR, and USB 2.0 capabilities.

Re: Samsung launches the slim-line Lucido Phone

The non-touchscreen handset has a bright 2.2-inch AM-OLED display for clear, bright images and video with an extemely high contrast ratio. It is dual GSM/3G with 7.2Mbps HSDPA support, and on the rear of the phone is a 5-megapixel autofocus camera with face detection, smile shot and anti-blur technology.

There's also tight integration with Google Maps and the in-built aGPS chip, with geotagging support an obvious extra, although we're still waiting for the site / application that actually makes this function worthwhile. If you're standing in front of the Sphinx in the picture... we know where you were when it was taken. Those that are fond of traveling will be able to enjoy the phone's A-GPS navigation capabilities via Google Maps. In addition, Lucido S7220 also comes with a built-in accelerometer, as well as with a microSD memory card slot that should provide users with additional storage space. The new mobile phone measures 114 x 46.3 x 11.8 mm.

It has strong multimedia support thanks to H.264, H.263, WMV and MPEG4 compatibility. Video can also be recorded using the camera, at QVGA resolution, 15fps. The Lucido supports 7.2Mbps HSDPA connectivity, allowing for speedy online access and media streaming. It’s due to launch in the UK in April and, according to UK Vice-President Mark Mitchinson, has ‘all the hallmarks associated with quality and sublime style’.

Samsung Lucido is expected in April this year, it will apparently be available on all network and at 'major retailers' too.
