I have a first generation iPod Touch updated to version 2.2.1. Jailbreak able to make this device and I get the programs and the installer, but I certainly doubt ... What is this?, Is that I have just 2 days with the iPod and not made for this "hack" to this device and would like to please tell me what is useful. Thank you very much.

Jailbreak also known as JB, is the action of releasing the iPod Touch to install third party applications and have access to it in the open.

No real cons - it lets you put some applications on the iPod such as games.
Basically I think the name comes from the fact that people feel limited by their phones so there is jailbreak.

Jailbraking your iPod touch means hacking it. You can add a lot of cool features and games/apps but it does mean that you wont be able to send it in for repair.

What type of programs ae available for free once a person jail break their phone? I am concerned about having problems with my phone once I jail break it.

Jailbreak is just hacking it. If you want to download games, themes, other applications on it then you'll jailbreak it. Nothing bad happens. I did it to my ipod and it's fine.

This term became popular among the Iphone users when they were able to unlock AT&T cell phone and used their own SIM Cards from other carriers.
