    Microsoft introduces the Arc Mouse

Microsoft has unveiled a crescent-moon-shaped mouse designed to be just as fashionable as it is functional — The Arc Mouse. The Arc Mouse can be used as a desktop mouse when fully extended and as a notebook mouse when it folds shut.
It’s called the Arc Mouse, and the idea is to great a small, portable mouse, like one that you would use with a notebook, but have it flip out like a cell phone to give you a full sized mouse when you need it.

The Arc Mouse is wireless, unfortunately 2.4GHz with a USB micro-transceiver rather than Bluetooth, which provides a range of up to 30 ft. It also includes a scroll wheel, battery status indicator and an extra button on the left side of the device as well as the standard two topside buttons. Microsoft claims the Arc Mouse will run for over 6 months on three AAA batteries and the fact that it will turn itself off when in the folded position ensures the unit isn’t draining power while sitting in your bag.

With its unique foldable design, Arc reduces in size by almost half for portability when it is snapped shut, but provides complete comfort as a full size mouse when flipped open. The Arc Mouse’s foldable shape allows it to easily slip into any bag while on the go and expand to a comfortable full size mouse in one easy motion – much like a clamshell mobile phone. Its micro USB transceiver quickly snaps into the bottom of the mouse using a magnet and is so small it sticks out less than one centimetre while plugged in.

Arc allows consumers to flaunt their personal style with its sleek, thin crescent shape and two color options — black and red. It is truly an accessory, adding to the fashion PC trend that is taking the technology industry by storm.

The Arc Mouse’s elegant, foldable shape allows it to easily slip into any bag while on the go, and yet be expanded to a comfortable full size for use. Its micro transceiver quickly snaps into the bottom of the mouse using a magnet, and is so small it sticks out less than 1 centimetre while plugged in to a USB port - there is no need to remove it from a notebook while travelling. The device is a 1.16-inch-thick elevated stand with a built-in fan and it’s made to sit on users’ laps or on their desks. It comes in white or black, you plug it in your PC via USB port and cools down your machine.

The Arc Mouse features high-end details in every aspect of its design — its strong metal hinge can be opened and closed with confidence, and testing shows that its sturdy shape can hold more than 25 pounds. With the following performance features, Arc Mouse is top in its class:

    • Battery life indicator shows two colors: green when the batteries have sufficient power and red when the batteries are running low.

    • 2.4GHz wireless technology gives consumers a confident wireless connection and a range of up to 30 feet, even in crowded wireless environments.

    • Carrying case is included and uses a magnetic flap to easily snap shut and protect the mouse while on the go.

    • High-performance laser tracking offers smooth tracking and excellent responsiveness and precision.

Mice comfort tends to be a subjective thing for most people, but the Arc Mouse could well find a market by recognizing a specific need and filling it. A battery life indicator shows two colours: green when the batteries have sufficient power and red when the batteries are running low.
