My hp dv 2000 laptop will not start. When you press the start button the indicator lights up but nothing appears on the screen. Not even the HP logo, which indicates a start-up activities of the BIOS.

Your could not be booting for several reasons anything from faulty RAM to software issues. Since you cannot boot to any type of working screen you will need to use the operating disc with XP or Vista on it. Put it in the CD-ROM and reboot. Let it run for a while and it will eventually ask you to install or repair. I would try repair first as if you install then you will lose all of your data, docs, favorites, pic, etc.
This is the problem most of the time with the DV2000's
this problem on a clients computer and HP fixed it for free.

Here's one thing that works for most of the time.Unplug the ac adapter and take the battery out.Let it set for 1-2 hours. Then put the battery back in and plug in the ac adapter, turn it on and it should boot.
I think these laptops have an ac problem!!
