| USB Mouse - HID Compliant Mouse not recognized
Hello, I have a Vista compatible USB Mouse. This mouse worked out of the box when I plugged it into the right side port of my acer Laptop the MS HID-compliant mouse driver correctly appeared under Mice and other pointing devices in the Device Manager. My problem is that when i plug the USB HID compliant mouse into the left side port , Vista does Not recognize it as a HID Compliant mouse and places it under "Other devices" as a "USB MOUSE" with an exclamation point next to it. Any ideas on why Vista cannot correctly recognize the USB HID mouse on both sides of the computer on the same USB HUB ?

The problem is, as stated, a Human Interface Device (HID) in combination with update KB938371. After installing this http://www.microsoft.com/Downloads/d...displaylang=en update , my usb-mouse stopped working. Just go to device manager --> HID-devices --> Unknown Device and search for drivers. Vista will not find any drivers online, so you have to search for drivers on your own computer. The location of this driver (in most cases) will be C:/Windows/Winsxs. You will get a popup saying "this is an unsigned driver bla bla bla". Just install the driver. The mouse worked for me (even without reboot). |

Try connecting a second USB pointing device into the same USB port. If the second device is detected correctly, then the mouse may be defective. If the second device is not detected correctly, then the USB port may not be enabled or functioning correctly. You may also verify the USB mouse is functional by trying it on a second system. If it fails on a second system then the mouse maybe defective. If you are using a USB Hub, Docking Station, Switch Box, Port Replicator, or extension cable to connect the mouse, try connecting the mouse directly to the USB port on the system to see if that has any effect.
