Wipro LittleGenius 7E100V

This notebook from Wipro looks very professional and sturdy. It comes preloaded with Windows Vista Business and has an Intel Core 2 Duo 2.1 GHz processor, 4 GB RAM, and 160 GB HDD. Six one-touch buttons are there on top of its keyboard for quick access. The speaker is optimally placed on top of the keypad.

Plus a tilted posture of the machine helps in better heat dissipation from bottom. With a screen size inches. LittleGenius weighs about 2.4 Kg (including the adapter). To test its performance we used three benchmarks 3D Mark ,PCmark and battery mark. 3D mark score was 562 while in PC Mark it got 4315. These are average scores as compared to other notebooks we tested in this price range.

The Battery Mark score was a whopping 4 Hours and 10 minutes which is due to its 8-cell battery. The keypad is very responsive but the size of the 'Shift' and 'Enter' key is comparatively smaller which may take some time getting used to. Other features include a fingerprint scanner and an 'HDMI' port.

Re: Wipro LittleGenius 7E100V

The trend of ultra-light laptops without sacrificing on performance is still alive, despite the appearance of the low-cost 'netbooks'. The Wipro Little Genius 7E1100 and WLG7710PV sport a completely black exterior with some minor design differences, both these notebooks packs in a business-like form factor and adequate performance in a significantly lighter body. The 7E1100 is costlier and boasts of many additional features compared to the WLG7710PV. The 7E1100 features a 1.3 MP cam, HDMI port and fingerprint reader; rare to find at this size and price. Meanwhile, the WLG7710PV is stripped of all the goodies and reduced to a basic business laptop with 2 GB of RAM and a 2 GHz Intel C2D processor. Both these laptops come pre-loaded with Windows Vista Business which is great. The touch-pads in both the laptops are top-notch and offer superior movement and control. We put them through our standard performance benchmarks, and the scores came out to be what we expect from an adequate business notebook. In PCMark '05 the 7E1100 scored 4315 while the WLG7710PV scored 3928. These notebooks are not meant for high-end multimedia or gaming, and it become evident in the graphic benchmarking tests where the results were poor. In 3DMark '06 the 7E1100 scored 562 and the WLG7710PV got a score of 405. Considering the absence of a dedicated graphics cards, these scores are understandable. Overall, performance was satisfactory, but the battery life of WLG7710PV was disappointing. It managed just 2 hours and 20 minutes in the BatteryMark test. The 7E1100's 8-cell battery kept alive for a good 4 hours. Both the notebooks look promising, but they do need some serious cosmetic makeovers. All said and done, the features offered are excellent as compared to the asking price.
