GIGA-BYTE Communications (GBC) announced today that it planned to come to the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona next week with a handful of devices, which are part of three major categories, including Multimedia, Business and Style. The company intends to continue to expand its lineup with new products that will be unveiled at the tradeshow, the same as it does every year.

The former of those will apparently include the MS820, which made a brief appearance last year, as well as an all new model with "higher specifications." Gigabyte is even less specific about its new business offering, with it only saying that it'll be "something very different to what they have before," but it does thankfully have quite a bit to say about the GSmart S1200, which fills out the company's style quotient. As you can see above, this one's a touchscreen phone, and runs on Windows Mobile 6.1 with a new Gigabyte-developed interface atop it dubbed Smart Zone.

The GSmart S1200, a device that can be seen in the invitation card next to this article, will be added to the Style category. The S1200 comes with a chic and stylish design, featuring a simple round arc shape and including a special coated texture meant to avoid fingerprints on the handset. The device will run under Windows Mobile Professional 6.1 OS, and is powered by a Qualcomm 7200A (528MHz) processor meant to deliver great performance.

“Windows phones let customers access the people and information they care about, wherever they are,” said Todd Peters, corporate vice president, Mobile Communications Business, Microsoft Corp. “The new GIGA-BYTE GSmart S1200 and MS820 will help people work more efficiently, surf the Web, and enjoy their favorite movies and music, delivering a truly connected experience.”

The S1200 will also come with a new UI developed by GBC, the Smart Zone, meant to deliver fashionable appearance, easy utilization and great performance. In addition, the user interface works under the concept 'Core', placing the users at the core of the phone, allowing for all programs to be reached in one or two simple steps. The UI is one of the most efficient currently available on the market.

Re: Gigabyte to debut GSmart S1200 WinMo phone

GSmart S1200 is powered by a 528MHz Qualcomm 7200A CPU. Its display seems large enough to have a VGA resolution, so let’s hope it actually does have it. Unfortunately, other details about the device are currently missing.
