Asus Eee PC 1000 HE with 9.5 hours of battery life

Asus has provided more than its fair share of mini pproducts over the past year or so, and with the Asus Eee Wi-Fi keyboard and Asus Eee PC T91 on their way that doesn’t look like letting up. Now, the company famed for shrinking down PCs is launching an ‘extended’ version of the Asus Eee PC 1000 – the Eee PC 1000 HE.

The Eee PC 1000 HE embeds a 10-inch screen and a 160GB hard drive with 10 GB of disk space online. Unlike most mini-laptop market operating under an Atom N270 processor, the machine runs on the N280 clocked at 1.66 GHz using the GN40 chipset for 667 MHz FSB and 1 GB of RAM. In addition to WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity, is truly the life cycle of the 6-cell battery which is placed in the foreground. Indeed, Asus announced that NETBOOK give up 9.5 hours of battery life.

The first Eee PC 1000HE models are the black EPC1000HE-BLK005X and blue EPC1000HE-BLU002X. According to the product page at Amazon, the new version of the popular mini-laptop is based on an unnamed Intel Mobile Chipset. The system includes the Atom N280 CPU with a 1.66GHz clock speed and a 667MHz FSB, which is up from 1.6GHz and 533MHz of the older N270. The Windows XP Home-based EPC1000HE-BLK005X and EPC1000HE-BLU002X have a 160GB hard drive, 1GB of DDR2 memory, and a 1.3MP web camera. The display has a resolution of 1024×600 pixels and LED backlight.

Asustek’s 3.2-pound netbook achieves the 9.5-hour battery life using a 8700mAH battery and Super Hybrid Engine technology that enables better power efficiency.

If normal = wifi + bluetooth + video + playback sound + background brightness to max, then yes. But already with my 1000h, setting everything correctly (no wifi when I need not, same for the bluetooth, no sound and brightness adjusted to the environment), I'm already at 5. Even with the wifi enabled, I am almost at 5.

With the EeePC 1000 and a 9-cell battery (ordered separately) is obtained with Wifi 8am then it may be credible if the new chipset + processor consumes a third less.9.5 H!! Here I am waiting for the tests because it may become interested in astronomy (vive exits without all batteries more)
