32Gb USB drive Copy only 8 GB of data

Hi, my friend gave me a 32gb usb drive, When I copy it, it only makes about 8 Gb data. My computer is new, equipped USB 2.0 I have never had problems bs with otherusb drives like 4gb and 8gb.
The problem persists even after formatting.
I work under XP (SP2). Is there a limit to the capacity of USB ?

Thanks in advance for your answers.

    Hello,
Depending on the brand of your USB drive, the manufacturer may propose a program of low-level format (more efficient than Windows in general). In this regard, with Windows you do a quick format or normal ?

To my knowledge, no size limit for the key under XP but the problem is surely that the keys are formatted as FAT and the old file system does not support large hard drive. You get an error message?

If it's FAT32, then you're limited to file sizes UNDER 4GB. This is a filesystem limitation, and there is no way around it. You'll either have to find a tool that can format the flash drive as NTFS or use a tool like WinZip to create a multi-part archive with at least 2 parts, each under 4GB in size.

Thanks guys! I did find some info on how to format it NTFS. In case your wondering, under Device Manager, expand disk drives, select the USB drive, go to properties and policies and change it to optimize performance. Then when you format the drive, NTFS is available.
