Western Digital?s TV HD Media Player Rolled Out in India

Western Digital’s My Passport portable drive users now get a device to convert the digital content saved in the drive into a full-HD one. Western Digital has announced the new TV Media Player in the Indian market.

The player can also be attached to any other USB mass storage device.

The features of the WD TV HD media player are full-HD video playback and navigation with upto 1080p of resolution. Also the player is capable of delivering HD quality digital audio. It also bundles along a remote control to navigate across animated HD menus. It offers a simple dock and play operation to my Passport drive and to other USB storage devices to view content on TV or on home entertainment system.



All the user needs to do is to connect the device to a TV or home theater and play digital movies, music and photos through a 500 GB WD My Passport portable drive or any other USB mass storage devices through included two USB ports.

Users using the WD TV HD media player will get to navigate in advanced thumbnail and list viewing style in media by media type in a single menu irrespective of the location of files in folders or drive. Thus, users get an option to search by genre, title, artist, filename and partial filename.

Some of the other features of the WD TV HD Player include:
  • Photo viewing features to create custom slides shows; ability to zoom and pan; search photos by filename, partial filename, most recently viewed and date
  • Movie viewing with ability to fast forward, rewind, pause, zoom, and pan, view subtitles and search by filename, partial filename, most recently viewed and date
  • Music playback with fast forward, rewind, pause, shuffle, repeat and search by filename, partial filename, most recently viewed and date

Further, it also comes embedded with High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) port for easy connection with the highest quality HDTV or home theater; additional composite (RCA) outputs to support virtually all television sets.

Backed by 1-year warranty, the WD TV HD Media Player is priced at Rs. 6,500.

The player has in it two USB ports, one HDMI port and it comes with free ArcSoft MediaConverter 2.5 software to convert photo, video, and music files into formats that are supported by the player
