    question HP laptop for school and...

    Hey guys,

    I'm going to be going to college soon and I have been looking at many different laptops. The thing is I need something good for school but also something where I can play some games on. This is what I found.

    Hewlett Packard Pavilion dv5-1157:

    * 2.00GHz Intel® Centrino® 2 Processor Technology featuring Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor P7350

    * 4GB DDR2 System Memory

    * 320GB (5400RPM) Hard Drive (SATA)

    *NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT with up to 2302MB Total Available Graphics Memory with 512MB dedicated

    * 15.4" Diagonal WXGA High-Definition HP Brightview Infinity Display (1280 x 800)

    * Windows Vista Home Premium

    Here's the link if you want to see the rest of the specs:http://www.staples.ca/ENG/Catalog/ca...fixedCode=&=&=

    As far as my knowledge is concerned, this is a good computer for what I want to do. Which is, listening to music, watch movies, and do light gaming ( World of Warcraft).

    Would you guys be able to give me some opinions if this computer is indeed good enough for what I want to do? I'm just so skeptical about this product. The total price of the computer including 3 years of warranty is around $1350. It seems too good to be true...

    Thanks

    That laptop you posted I believe is the dv5-1157 at Staples if I'm not mistaken? That is indeed a decently powerful machine for its price(although it was at 1000$ last week).

    The 9600M GT should be able to handle those games without any trouble.

    Another option to consider would be as haquocdung suggested, a Dell XPS. That comes with a 8600M GT, which is comparable to the 9600M GT.

    A Lenovo T400 or T500 would also be a good option to consider. It has switchable graphics to conserve more battery life.

    Oh ok kewl , thanks for the input! And yea I actually was looking at the xps computers from dell and I was about to get one. Though, I remebered that the Nvidia's 84 and 86 series had those heat cycle issues in combination with faulty material. So that's when I decided to stay away from dell.
