CTL Corporation went ahead and officially announced their new 2GO Convertible Classmate PC. CTL claims that their 2GO Convertible PC is the first touch-enabled netbooks to be available in the U.S. Well, yes considering that the likes of Asus, MSI and the others have just launched their touch-enabled netbooks at the CES.

The new 2GO convertible classmate can be used as your normal laptop or a tablet PC. It features an 8.9-inch wide screen and was tested to withstand accidental drops up to 500cm. It also features a liquid-resistant keyboard, and a remobale carrying handle plus the fact that it is also lightweight at 2.8lbs.

Obviously CTL is marketing the new 2Go Classmate PC for the young computer users, especially with its toy-like look. Although I doubt if parents would be willing to spend $549 dollar for a convertible PC for their kids. But for the savvy netbook fans, the CTL 2GO Classmate PC would seem to be a nice little machine to toy around.

Key features of the new 2Go Classmate PC includes:

  • 1.6GHz Intel Atom 270 processor
  • 1GB RAM
  • shock-moutned 60GB HD
  • 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi
  • 6-cell battery
  • 8.9 LCD screen (1024×600) with accelerometer
