Palm introduces at the CES 2009 its latest smartphone, the Palm Pre, which will be available from Sprint. The Pre features a 3.1-inch 320×480 multi touch display, a slide-out QWERTY keypard, a 3 Megapixel camera, WiFi 802.1b/g, GPS and Bluetooth.
The Plam Pre has 8GB internal memory. It supports EV-DO Rev.A network and does Bluetooth tethering. Based on OMAP CPU, the Pre runs the Palm webOS. It offers a 3.5mm stereo jack and a microUSB connector.
"When we designed the original Palm Pilot, we didn't think of competing with the Newton [Apple's failed PDA], we were competing with pen and paper," Palm President and Chief Executive Ed Colligan said today.
The Pre has the ambient light, accelerometer, and proximity sensor. It measures 59.5mmx100.5mmx16.95mm and weighs 135g.
