Lok8u Nu M8 GPS child locator watch

UK location services company Lok8u Ltd is launching Nu-M8 – an innovative new best friend for parents and children – at International CES. This ground-breaking solution pushes combined GPS and GSM technology in a micro form factor to the next level of innovation.

Nu•M8 is the world’s first GPS locator device specifically designed to be worn by children with the technology cleverly concealed within a child’s digital watch. Its unique design features ensure that the parent locates their child, not the technology.

NuM8 is innovative and fundamentally different to other products available in the market. It does not rely upon the child to be responsible enough to keep their locator with them in a bag or pocket. Instead, when Nu•M8 is securely fastened to a child’s wrist it stays there unless deactivated by a parent. Parents can therefore be assured that wherever Nu•M8 is, their child is.

Nu•M8 is easy to set up and use and is universally accessible from your mobile phone or computer and can be used at home, abroad or even on holiday.

If at any time NuM8 is forcibly removed an alert detailing your child’s current location is sent to your mobile phone and computer giving early warning of potential danger.

Other clever functionality includes a “where are you” function whereby if you text “wru” from your mobile phone to NuM8 or click “where r you” on the Lok8u secure portal your child’s location is then presented as an icon on Google maps and/or the street address and postcode is displayed. Unique “safe zones” can also be set in which your child can play.

Recommended for children aged 3-12 years old, Nu M8 goes on sale in the spring with a recommended retail price of £149.99 (US retail price to be confirmed), plus a monthly subscription charge

Re: Lok8u Nu M8 GPS child locator watch

num8 is the world’s first GPS locator device that has been specifically designed with children in mind. It tells you exactly where your child is, anytime - at home or even abroad.

All you need is a mobile phone or a computer to find their precise location.

And unlike similar locator products, num8 has been cleverly concealed in a child’s digital watch that is securely fastened to your child and cannot be removed or deactivated without your knowledge. No other child locator in the world can match this.

Another great feature of num8 is the ability to set up a virtual fence as a ‘safe zone’. If your child steps outside this zone you'll know straight away.

If num8 is removed without your permission an instant alert is sent straight to your phone and/or email with your child’s location. It means total security, absolute peace of mind, all day long.

Re: Lok8u Nu M8 GPS child locator watch

num8 uses the same Pinpoint precise GPS technology used in SatNav systems. It is accurate to within 3 metres.

In addition, we have implemented our own proprietary Cell ID technology which provides a swift approximate location of your child. This is then refined using GPS to achieve an accuracy of 3 metres. This action can be driven via your mobile phone using the texting facility. The benefit of using dual locating technology is that the child can still be located in instances where normal GPS technology may not be sufficient.

    Know where they are
Simply connect to the lok8u customer portal from your PC or text message from your mobile phone to locate your child, anytime, anywhere.

    Instant alerts if removed
If the strap of your child's num8 is opened without your authority, an immediate alert is sent via SMS and email to warn you this has happened.

    Set your own boundaries
The 'Safe Zone' feature allows you to easily set your own defined area by time and day. An immediate alert is sent via SMS and email to inform you if your child strays outside this area.

num8 is a durable, quality product that is superb value for money. The benefits for both
you and your child are immeasurable.

All mobile phones can receive text messages which is the standard way for num8 to communicate your child's position or give a warning. If you have a phone with internet connectivity (GPRS, 3G or Wifi) and the right tariff, you can also see the child's location on a map linked to the text message. Some mobiles can receive email alerts as well as text messages. If in doubt please contact your network provider.
